Aaron, Wyatt, and I are staying at my parent's house this weekend so Grandma B. isn't alone. My Mom and Dad are in Chicago with my sister and niece for an American Girl weekend. :) Cute. So... since we were kind of snowed in today, I decided to make some Play-Doh for Wyatt.
It was fairly easy to make, and not terribly messy. (Don't worry Mom, none of your counters are stained red or blue. :) )
Wyatt had fun trying to cut out shapes - it's a little hard for him still, but he'll grow into it. Anyway, here is the recipe I used:
Homemade Play Doh
2 cups flour
2 cups warm water
1/2 cup salt
1 T. cream of tartar
Food coloring
1. Mix all the ingredients except food coloring in a pan on medium heat. Continue stirring until the mixture is smooth and no longer sticky. It should be pretty tough to mix when you are done.
2. Remove from heat and let it cool a little. I wet the counter and then put down a sheet of Saran Wrap to protect the counter. Knead the dough until it is smooth.
3. Divide the dough and make a well in each to add the food coloring. Knead in the color until it is even.
4. Play!
Cheap, easy fun. I think I may make another batch next week and divide it up for little party favors for Wyatt's Christmas party at daycare.
Stay safe and warm, everyone!
