Wyatt's first Halloween!

I love our baby giraffe!

P.S. Check out my new necklace in this picture - I got it from a vendor on etsy.com. I love it!

My Birthday...

Today is my birthday, and I am very blessed. Aaron sent me these flowers to school - I got many, many compliments and birthday wishes because of them! Thanks babe!

Wyatt is really into grabbing and eating things...

And he is also a green baby. He says "Check out my organic cotton onesie and my cloth diaper!" :) (Speaking of cloth diapers, we are waiting for the the rinse cycle to end, so we can throw a huge load of them in the dryer and then we can go to bed! :) )

Catching my breath...

My baby is bathed and in bed asleep. Now I get to have a few moments to catch my breath from this crazy day! School has been keeping me busy - it kind of feels like I'm starting my practice because I have a pool of new patients that I am responsible for, and most of what I've been doing lately is exams and treatment plans! Today I actually started treatment for one of my patients, and we got a lot done. We were efficient enough to get two appointment's worth of work done in one, which is good. However, now we are to a point where my patient has to pay some money so the dental school can pay the lab, and he wasn't expecting to have to pay quite yet. So... I have to wait until he pays to send it out, and we are at a little standstill. Oh well. My schedule is starting to book up, which is great - next week I have no openings, though on Wednesday morning I'm taking Wyatt to the doctor for his 4 month check-up. The other day I had a chance to sit down and try to get organized for the year - I planned out appointments for patients and figured out what requirements I still need. Each day I am trying to think like I am out on my own, and I still feel like I've got a lot to learn... Oh, and I have to take my written boards soon (November 17 and 18), so I need to get studying for that soon. But wait, I was catching my breath... :)

Tomorrow is my birthday - I will be 25 years old! Maybe Wyatt will bless me with a good night's rest for a birthday present! I can dream, can't I???

Sweet little boy...

I think Wyatt is definitely feeling better, though he still has the sniffles and a cough. He is still waking up every couple hours at night - I think the coughing and congestion are what are waking him up. Poor baby... Poor mommy!!! :)

Anyway, he will be four months old on Friday - he has changed so much already! He is reaching for things and trying to stuff them in his mouth. He is very opinionated and lets us know when he is not happy! And he is laughing now - mostly when we tickle his belly or wiggle his legs, but sometimes if I make a silly face at him he will laugh. It's very heartwarming. :)

Recovering from the flu...

We've been hit with the flu at our house - Wyatt was sick at daycare on Wednesday, then he stayed home with Daddy on Thursday (Daddy also came down with the flu), then Friday all three of us stayed home with the flu! I don't think I had it near as bad as the two boys, but then again I did get a flu shot. Who knows what it was - Wyatt wasn't tested for H1N1 or the regular flu, but it was all the right symptoms. Anyway, I hated to call in sick to school on Friday, but I think it's better I didn't get anybody else sick. Here's a picture of Daddy and Wyatt lounging around today... I think they are both starting to feel better.

I was starting to get some cabin fever today, so I took Wyatt for a walk in the stroller facing forward for the first time. (Well, this is how he always goes in the stroller at daycare, so it's just new with me. :) ) He eventually fell asleep in the stroller, so I just brought the stroller in the house and he is still napping in it!

Well, I am hoping that Wyatt will sleep better tonight. The last two nights he's been waking up every 2-3 hours, which is hard on Mommy. He's also been really tough to get to stay asleep - he'll fall asleep nursing and when I lay him in the crib he wakes up immediately. Very frustrating... before he was sick he usually went down to sleep so easily.

Hope you are all staying well!

Wyatt eats cereal

Okay, I'm ready Mom.

Mmm... this bib sure tastes good.

What are you feeding me??? This isn't milk!

I am so over this rice cereal stuff. You can quit shoving that stuff in my mouth, Mom.

Mommy's big boy!

Exciting news! Wyatt slept from 9 - 6:20 last night! Hurray! The two nights before that he did 8 hour stretches as well, which were the longest he had ever slept. I'm hoping we've turned the corner and this will become the norm! Aaron had to work this morning at 5:30, so he got up at 4:45. I expected Wyatt to wake up then (that's when he woke up the two previous nights), but he didn't. I woke up an hour later and went in to check on him because I thought surely something was wrong as my son does not sleep through the night! I put my hand on him, and he was breathing and he squirmed around a little but didn't wake up. So I went back to bed and he woke up about a half hour later. Looks like we are going to have to work on Mommy sleeping through the night as Wyatt seems to be just fine with sleeping for 9+ hours! (Don't worry, I am fully prepared for him to wake up three or four times tonight - it wouldn't surprise me one bit. :) )

Anyway, another reason why Wyatt is a big boy - we started giving him some rice cereal for the last two nights before bed. He really doesn't eat much of it, but it's good practice for him.

Today Wyatt and I went to church with Grandma and Grandpa Brummer. I was actually going to be on time this week, but when I was changing Wyatt's diaper right before we went out the door he wet his whole outfit. So, we arrived just before the music started. Better than the last time! :) After church we ran some errands and Wyatt was a good sport. Here's a picture of him sporting Mommy's good deal - Target has the $1 section at the front of the store, and I found this hat and mittens there. $2! It'll be a great back up set for this winter. I have a friend from high school who is going to knit Wyatt a winter hat - she has a website where you can check out all of the things that she knits. She is doing it to raise money so her family can adopt a baby. We are going to get the brown snowflake hat - so cute! But for those times when we forget his hat/he spits up on it, etc. we have this $1 back-up!

These mittens taste yummy!

Weekend recap and what's for dinner

This past weekend we got to see lots of friends and family. On Friday afternoon before we left Iowa City, my college roommate Kristi and her boyfriend Matt stopped over and met Wyatt. I'm a dope and forgot to take a picture of them with Wyatt. Next time! They came back for Homecoming, and Kristi's cousin was crowned Homecoming Queen! Now Kristi's family has a monopoly on being Homecoming Queen as she was also crowned Homecoming Queen for her senior year.

We drove up to Cedar Falls on Friday night and relaxed with my parents and Grandma B. On Saturday Aaron spoiled me with a facial and massage at Jiva Salon - it was a really great stress-reliever as this past week was a doozy! Then we caught up with Matt and Hilary at Pump Haus - we might drive them crazy because every time we meet up with them in CF we always want to go there for lunch! Good burger and onion rings... :) Here they are hanging out with Wyatt (notice he's sporting his Hawkeye hat in support of the Iowa football game later that day :) ).

Saturday afternoon most of my family came over to my parent's house and we caught up with all of them. We also got to meet little Ainsley Searfoss - she is a cutie! Again, I'm a dope and forgot to take pictures. But, you can check out Suzy's blog to see Ainsley. On Sunday, Aaron and I had a low-key morning just relaxing, and then that afternoon we drove around to different open houses with my parents to get a feel for what houses are selling for in Cedar Falls. It's exciting to think about graduating from dental school and moving to CF to practice! But, buying a house is an intimidating process... we are praying that it will all fall into place at the right time for us. We have been very blessed to live in our current house in Iowa City - hopefully we will be able to sell it in a timely manner!
Saturday night I actually stayed up and watched the Hawkeye game - I'm glad I did! It was quite the nail-biter at the end! I was nervous we weren't going to beat Michigan (and then there would be a riot in Iowa City! :) ) but we managed to get the win, so hurray! 6-0 baby!

Anyway, here's a picture of what Wyatt did in CF - jumpy chair time! He's really changing... I know I say that alot, but he's getting so big!

And, what's for dinner tonight... I have been trying to eat more vegetables lately since I want Wyatt to grow up and eat vegetables! So, I've been branching out and trying new ones. Tonight I sauteed some red potatoes, zucchini, and yellow squash in olive oil with garlic, and it was really good! We had cheeseburgers with it... that wasn't very adventurous, but they were tasty! Aaron is a much better cook than I am, so he showed me how to toss the veggies in the oil in the pan. I'm learning - I don't think I will ever have the natural talent that he has for cooking, but I'm doing my best! :)

Maybe it's another growth spurt???

So, Wyatt has been a little stinker lately when it comes to sleeping at night. Normally, he will do atleast a 5-7 hour stretch when he goes to bed, then wake up maybe once more before I get up for school (sometimes twice, just depends). Well, the last few nights he's been waking up every three-four hours, even the first stretch! Ugh! For example, last night he woke up at 11, 2, and 5. I didn't get to bed until 9:30, so that's not a lot of sleep when it's time to get ready for school at 5:45. Sigh... I'm hoping it's just a growth spurt and he will start sleeping a little longer at night.

Anyways, enough "woe is me"... :) He is changing so much - just last week he couldn't or wouldn't reach for the froggy on the jumpy chair, but tonight he was all about it!

Cute pictures... can't help but post them... :)

I love this little boy...

Baby shower

Today has been a busy day for Wyatt and me. (Unfortunately Daddy had to work :( ) We went to church this morning (7 minutes late... I can never seem to get out the door on time now that Wyatt is here... oh well :) ). After church there was a baby shower for one of the women in our small group at church - she had the baby five weeks ago, so we got to meet him which was fun! Here's a picture of the three babies (left to right) at the shower today - Kylin, Wyatt, and Quade! I had to take a picture because they were all napping at the same time!

This is a new skill Wyatt has picked up - he is grabbing onto things all the time. I'm going to have to start strapping him into the bouncy seat, because he is starting to grab onto the bar and pull himself to the side! He's my big boy!

And Wyatt weighs...

12 pounds 4 ounces! Now he is in the 25th percentile - way to go little boy!! He weighed 9 lb. at two months, so this is a big increase compared to month one to month two.
Wyatt wore his rain jacket to Sarah's earlier this week when it was so rainy - looks like he doesn't mind the rain, Sleepy baby...

I love these little legs!!
